Nashville Community Darkroom’s Artist-in-Residence program seeks to foster creative and artistic growth for emerging photographers using traditional or alternative photographic media. Applicants may apply for a 3 or 6 month residency, during with he/she will receive free 24-hour access to NCD’s full black-and-white traditional darkroom facilities, studio, work areas, and equipment, in addition to donated material support and free access to NCD classes when space is available. Please note that living accommodations are not provided.
While in residence, artists are encouraged to pursue their own work while engaging with NCD’s vibrant community of photographers who represent many skill levels and interests. The Nashville Community Darkroom is a non-profit organization funded entirely by members and private donations, and is staffed by volunteers. During the residency, artists are asked to commit to a few hours of facility assistance per month, and to maintain regular communication with NCD board members about the ongoing residency. Artists will be featured in NCD’s promotional materials and website, and may complete their term with a solo show at NCD’s gallery, to be held in conjunction with the East Side Art Stumble.
Application deadline for the term beginning June 1, 2016 is May 1, 2016. There is no fee to apply. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older. Applicants should submit a completed application, statement of intent, and 5 sample images or link to online work samples. Awards will be announced April 15.
