Lumen Prints are images made with photographic paper exposed to direct sunlight, with no camera and no developing needed. Sometimes the colors develop right before your eyes, sometimes it takes hours. The colors can depend on the pH or chemical makeup of the objects touching the paper, the amount of UV passing through the clouds, and the brand or type of photo papers used. It’s a fun and mysterious process! This workshop will provide all the materials you need to make your own lumen prints, including a selection of papers and toners you can use to experiment with. We will cover selecting objects or negatives to create a composition, exposing your image, scanning, toning, and fixing your images for permanence. This is a great time opportunity to create cards or final prints suitable for framing, just in time for Mother’s Day!
