We’re well on our way, and excited to start having folks in for tours soon! Below you’ll find a collection of shots that show us slowly transforming what used to be a check cashing place at 1143 Gallatin Rd. into what will shortly be the Nashville Community Darkroom. Plus, there’s one mockup of what we hope our signage is going to look like.
In terms of the nitty-gritty, we’re doing final construction in the gallery, and are laying out the enlarger stations. We’re starting with eight 35mm/120mm stations and will add another 8-10 in the next few months. We’re also going to have at least one large-format enlarger, in its own cubby. Our darkroom sink is installed and hooked up, and we’ll be doing darkroom lighting this week, as well as building partitions between the enlarger stations. We’ve also got our eye on some storage cabinets, as well as some lockers that members will be able to use to keep materials at the darkroom when they’re away.
All in all, we’re closing in. It feels great.
FILM IS DEAD. LONG LIVE FILM.
